When is HPV vaccination needed?

Unfortunately, if the person vaccinated already carries cervical cancer, the vaccine is no use. Therefore, it is advisable to take the vaccine as early as possible. Vaccine against HPV can also benefit sexually active people, as the vaccine can protect against condyloma. Free vaccination against HPV is offered to young girls around Sweden. The vaccine reduces the risk of cervical cancer by about 70 percent.

Does the HPV vaccine have any side effects?

The most common side effects of the vaccine are swelling, redness and irritation around the injection site. More uncommon side effects are nausea, aches and fatigue. It is infrequent that severe reactions occur, but individuals should not take the remaining doses if they appear.
